The Love of a Lady
This is a one of a kind handmade piece.
The genesis of this image came during a long walk in my local countryside during a harsh and cold winter. I came upon a young woman who was feeding the birds from her hand, and even talking softly to them as they flew around her in a form of reconnaissance before shyly coming to rest on her hand and shoulder.
I was taken by the absolute trust between wild creatures and a human character, and by the fact that after looking on for a few minutes, this suddenly seemed like the most natural thing in the world. I was also smitten by the purity of spirit of this young woman, and how graciously she reached out to the fellow creatures of her beautiful natural landscape.
The foreground is made-up of birds that I crafted by hand, and the natural scene is littered with miniature ‘surprises’ that delight the onlooker. The more you look, the more you find!
